Have I ever prayed about the book of Mormon?

Many Mormon friends have been asking me if I had ever prayed and asked if the book of Mormon was true or not, for those who keep asking me about this matter I’d like to share with you my answer and testimony in this short article.

But before going any further, I’d like to ask you something to keep in your thoughts.

Have you ever prayed asking if the Bible it’s true or not before asking about the book of Mormon? Something tells me you haven’t. So, ask yourselves - Why not?.

Well, now this is my answer to your question .  Have I ever prayed about the book of Mormon?. YES I have!. I prayed and asked!. Now, many Mormons might be eager to hear about what kind of response I’ve got. Well, I won’t disappoint you. I must admit that I felt something in my being, some kind of heat going through my body. The interesting thing about my experience is, that I didn’t “feel it” while I was praying about the book of Mormon but it was while I was reading and asking about the bible and trying to understand it. Isn't that interesting?

After this “mystic” experience, I decided the LDS church was the true church and I asked to be baptized which they did. However, after a brief time being a newly Mormon member I decide that I had to share my experience with other people and went into talking with other no Mormon friends who also were Christians from different denominations and ask them how they knew their church was the true church. What do you think I found out?. Well, I realized many no mormon Christians had more or less the same kind of experience I had, some would say they “felt” their church was the true church, others would say they “felt” God had led them to be here or there after having prayed about it.

Wow, I was confused; Mormons weren’t the only ones using the method of being guided by “impressions” in their hearts which they interpreted as responses from the Holy Spirit. If others could use the same method and could have the same response I had, How could I know if I really was in the true church?, What if the others were in the true church? I started to ask questions to other members and leaders in the chapel, but none of them could give a clear answer. Some tried to say they just “knew it”, they didn’t know how, others went to point out that the difference was in how pure was my heart at the time of asking then that would mean my response was the right one. All of these aids were no help at all but more confusing. How could I have had a pure heart if the reason I had to go to Christ in the first place is I had feeling myself a sinner seeking for forgiveness? It just didn’t make any sense. How could I have had a pure heart if the only way to have one was not having ever committed a sin and I knew I was a plain sinner?

On the other hand, How could I judge and know for sure if other people had purer heart and had the right answer?

Thank God he gave me a great desire to read the bible, in middle of my troubles and perplex thoughts I felt this urgent need to read the bible and study it. What I had found was astonishing; it was like having my thirst satisfied, I had noticed the apostles and even Jesus himself talking about something called “faith”, and even myself wanted to have the same kind of faith. - How could I have that “faith”?  - I wondered. I knew the answer would be in the bible. I kept reading the bible and I found Romans 10:17

The “Word of God”, that was it, the proper way to have faith was just to trust in God’s promises. Like Abraham, he just believed God’s promises, he trusted God, he trusted his promises and I had many promises for me in the bible. In some other part of the bible I found “the righteous will live by faith”, Wow, that was a huge “revelation” in my life, it didn’t say “by feelings” or “by receiving impressions” it was just by trusting the promises of god in his word, by faith.

It all started to make sense, and in other part I found Jeremy 17:9 “deceitful is the heart”

Could I trust my heart?, could I trust the impressions in my heart? How could I make a difference between impression of my heart and the spirit? How can I know if what I feel is true or not? The answer was NO, I can’t trust my heart! Is deceitful. The bible kept giving me asnwers . Psalms 119:105

When we walk in darkness we use a lamp to bring light to our path, I realized that in middle of my own darkness the bible was being my light. The “prophetic word” in which we rely and we do good in listen to it. The Bible has been ever since my light and the Holy Spirit has helped me understand these issues.

You my dear friend, may not be able to understand nor believe me, but God is witness that what I say is true, and this is my testimony for you, “the word of life” has power to give us faith and assurance that we walk the right path.

Isaia 8:20

The bible is and always will be the guide and rule of faith for the true Christian. Again, I tell you, do not believe me if you don’t want to, I ask you to pray and ask God if the teachings of the bible are true or not. Ask God to know if the bible is not reliable, with out fear nor doubt go and ask your creator.

¿Es considerado idolatría inclinarse o postrarse ante una imagen?

Se ha argumentado que postrarse ante una persona o cosa no es sino nada más que un signo de respeto o "veneración".

¿podría el hecho de postrarme ante una autoridad como una reyna o un principe ser tomado como un acto de adoración?

Existen muchos ejemplos en la biblia donde se describen a personas que inclinandose ante otras y es claro que es tomado como un simple acto de respeto. Hemos visto como los hombres acostumbran inclinarse ante el Papa de la iglesia Catolica como muestra de respeto.

¿entonces por que los cristianos critican la practica católica de inclinarse y realizar culto a estatuas de barro e imagenes de santos y virgenes?.
¿puede el acto físico de "inclinarse" o "postrarse" ante algo ser tomado como un acto de "adoración" además de ser solo respeto?

Es cierto que el simple acto de postrarse o inclinarse no debe tomarse como un acto de adoración en si.  Pero dicho respeto se convierte en adoración idolatra cuando tu "respeto" o "veneracion" contiene elementos de culto. Solo nuestro creador es merecedor de culto. Ninguna criatura suya puede ni debe ocupar su lugar.

Si podemos postrarte ante un Rey o autoridad como señal de respeto sin que sea considerado un acto de adoración, pero no deberíamos realizarle un culto como si fuera Dios ¿verdad?. ¿recuerdas la historia de Daniel?. 

Daniel juntamente sus amigos se rehusarón a "adorar" la imagen de nabucodonosor, es decir se negarón a participar del culto que se le realizaba.

La verdadera idolatría empieza en el corazón. Como ya lo dije antes, es tu "actitud" tu predispisición a obedecer y seguir ciertos elementos que reemplazan al Dios verdadero y sus verdaderas enseñanzas.
Es cierto que no toda imagen es idolatra, pero cuando dicha imagen contiene elementos de culto como oración, reuniones especiales y continuas, toda nuestra mente y corazón y nuestra dependencia a ella, entonces estamos cometiendo el pecado de idolatría.

 La verdadera adoración empieza en Dios y acaba en Dios a través de su palabra, Dios nos muestra el verdadero camino y forma de adorarlo en sus enseñanzas bíblicas.
Si solo Dios es merecedor de nuestra adoración ¿por que necesito realizar culto de adoración a imagenes y estatuas que representan a seres creados por Dios?.
¿donde menciona la biblia la necesidad de realizar culto a personas o criaturas terrenas?
¿por que siquiera hacerlo si podemos acceder directamente a Dios pues ahora podemos "acceder sin temor" al trono celestial gracias al sacrificio de nuestro Salvador?
¿Acaso no es suficiente Jesús como intercesor y mediador entre nosotros y Dios?
Jesus es Dios. ¿por que no sería suficiente nuestro Salvador Jesús para acercarnos a Dios como para que recurramos a estatuas de barro e imágenes de santos?

Muchos utilizan relatos bíblicos donde se menciona que el pueblo de Dios debía adornar el templo con ciertas figuras de ángeles y querubines pero ¿donde dice en la biblia que los hombres les rendian culto o eran objeto de adoración? ¿Donde dice en al biblia que existe mandamiento biblico en ese sentido?

 El centro del conflicto entre Satanás y nuestro Creador, es la adoración. La biblia relata que la causa de la caida del ángel rebelde fue su deseo de ser adorado y venerado al punto de tomar el lugar de Dios y ahora hace tódo lo posible por engañar a los hombres para mostrarse como un ángel de luz y suplantar la ley de Dios y así suplantar el lugar de Dios entre los hombres.

Nuestra única guía para evitar los engaños es la sagrada Palabra de Dios.

"Lámpara es a mis pies tu palabra y lumbrera a mi camino" Salmo 119:105

Es deshonesto y malicioso tratar de enseñar elementos de adoración no bíblicos basados en meros relatos y no en claras enseñanzas bíblicas.

Dios advirtió a Josué:

Solamente sé fuerte y muy valiente; cuídate de cumplir toda la ley que Moisés mi siervo te mandó; no te desvíes de ella ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda, para que tengas éxito dondequiera que vayas.

Josue 1:7 

Y algo parecido le había dicho a Moises y al pueblo Israelita

y cuidarás de observar todo lo que ellos te enseñen. Según los términos de la ley que ellos te enseñen, y según la sentencia que te declaren, así harás; no te apartarás a la derecha ni a la izquierda de la palabra que ellos te declaren.

Deutoronomio 17:10,11

¿que si oré para saber si el libro de Mormón es verdadero o no?

Saludos amigos, primero quiero empezar diciendo que solia ser un mormón y entiendo cuando ellos dicen “tener un  testimonio” de la veracidad del libro de Mormón.

Muchos amigos mormones me han preguntado si he orado para saber si el libro de mormón es verdadero o no, ahora quiero compartir con aquellos que insisten en preguntarmelo una y otra vez mi respuesta mediante este artículo. Pero antes  de responder déjenme preguntarles a mis amigos mormones ¿han orado por la biblia antes de orar por el libro de mormón?, yo se que no, preguntense ¿Por qué no lo hicieron?

Bien, ahora puedo responder a su pregunta, Si!, si lo hice, oré y pregunté, y si!, si “sentí” algo cuando ore, y creí como la mayoria de los mormones ,haber recibido una respuesta a mi oración y entonces me bauticé mormón creyendo que hacía lo correcto. Sin embargo, al poco tiempo descubrí algo perturbante. Al conversar con otros cristianos de otras iglesias les preguntaba sobre como sabían si la iglesia a la que asistían era la verdadera, grande fue mi sorpresa cuando muchos me decían que “habían sentido” que la iglesia a la que asistían era la veradera o “sentían” que Dios los había guiado aca o allá despues de haber orado.

Wow, estaba confundido. Los mormones no eran los únicos que utilizaban el método de guiarse por "impresiones" en el corazón o en la mente que interpretan como respuesta del espíritu santo. Si otros usaban el mismo método y podian tener la misma respuesta que yo ¿Cómo podía yo saber si realmente estaba en la veradera iglesia, o si los otros lo estaban?, hice muchas preguntas a los mormones misioneros y líderes y la respuesta que encontre tiempo despues, fue que lo que hacía la diferencia era que si mi corazón era puro entonces significaba que mi respuesta era la correcta, pero eso no tenía sentido. ¿Cómo podía tener un corazón puro si la razón por la que me acerqué a Cristo en primer lugar fue por que me sentía pecador y buscaba perdón? ¿Cómo podía tener un corazón puro si la única manera de tener uno era que no hubiera pecado nunca y yo era un simple pecador? Por otro lado, ¿Cómo podía juzgar si en otras iglesias tenían un corazón más puro o no?.

Gracias a Dios que me dió muchos deseos de leer la biblia, sentí una gran urgencia de leer la biblia y estudiarla y lo que encontré me sorprendió en gran manera.
Noté que los apóstoles y el mismo Jesús mencionaban mucho la palabra “fe”, y yo quería tener esa fe, ¿Cómo podía obtener esa fe?, me preguntaba, hasta que me encontré con el libro de Romanos 10:17 que dice “la fe es por el oír, el oír por la palabra de Dios”. LA PALABRA de Dios era la respuesta. La biblia podía darme fe, y más adelante encontré “El justo por fe vivirá”, no por impresiones del corazón sino por fe.
Dios me había respondió a mi inquietud y confirmo esta revelación a medida que seguía leyendola, luego encontré:

“Engañoso es el corazón más que todas la cosas, y perverso;
¿quién lo conocerá? Yo Jehová, que escudriño la mente, que pruebo el
corazón, para dar a cada uno según su camino,
según el fruto de sus obras.”
JEREMIAS 17:9

¿Podía confiar en mi corazón, podía confiar en impresiones que recibía en mi ser?
NO, mi corazón es perverso y es ENGAÑOSO, ¿Cómo puedo saber si lo que siento es verdadero o no?, pero ¿como podía conocer la verdad?, La biblia me seguia respondiendo.

“Lámpara es a mis pies tu palabra y lumbrera en mi camino”
Salmo 119:105

Cuando andamos en oscuridad usamos alguna lámpara que nos ilumine, me dí cuenta que en medio de mi oscuridad espiritual tenemos “la palabra porfética” a la cual hacemos bien en hacer caso. La biblia fue mi luz, y fue el Espíritu Santo que me ayudó a entender éste tema.

Tal vez tu no me creas mi amigo, pero Dios es testigo que todo lo que te digo es cierto, y mi testimonio para ti es que “la palabra de vida” tiene poder para darnos fe, y seguridad de que andamos en lo cierto.

Isaias 8:20 dice “Si no os dijeren conforme a esto es por que no hay luz en ellos”

La biblia es y siempre  será la guía y la regla de fe para el verdadero cristiano.

Otra vez les digo, no me crean si no quieren, oren y pregunten a Dios si las cosas de la biblia son ciertas o no. Pregunten si es cierto que no es de confianza, sin temor, pregúntale a tu creador.

Este es mi mensaje a ti y a tus hermanos mormones que esta leyendo. Que Dios me los bendiga grandemente.

Was the Sabath a type pointing towards something?

If you read the 10 commandments you can find that all of them are the moral law wich is the reflection of God's character.
If the sabath, as you imply, was a "type" or "shadow" of Jesus, (I don't know if you understand the definition fo those terms) , then why would it be placed in middle of the moral law?.
The moral law of God is eternal, just as is our God, there has alwas been a moral law since the time God has existed, however you'll find in Gal 3:19 another law mentioned as being "added", and is interesting to note that the word "add" in that verse is the same greek word used in Mat. 6:27.
What law was added? the bible answers. "And almost all things are by the LAW purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission." Heb. 9:22
Is this last verse talking about the 10 commandments?, No is talking about the ritual or ceremonial law. the law that was "added" due to the transsgression as is stated in Gal. 3:19
"What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator."
AS you can read, the pourpose of this law was always to show us the "seed" wich is Christ.
When was this law "added"?. Was it before the transgression? NO, it was after the transgression, it was added due to the transgression
To what was added? It was added to the already existing moral law of Jehova.

Now, read this part.

When was the weekly sabath "MADE"?
Gen.2:2
"And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done"
"Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and MADE"

It clearly states that the 4th commandment was made in the creation BEFORE the transgression.
Why was the sabbath made?
was it made to show us Christ?
Jesus answers that.
"The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath:
Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath. (Mark 2:27-28.)"
If you read this verse, you'll se that he mentions three things
1. The sabath was MADE
2. Jesus is the "lord" of the sabath (SEVENTH DAY).
3. He says "men" is the reason the sabath was made. Not jews, not a type or shadow, not Christ but MEN.

I think you are a sincere chirstian, why to ignore to what the scripture clearly says?
God invites his children to worship "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and TRUTH.” jOHN 4:24

Why to worship according to men's law?
In Rev. 14:7 says "Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that MADE heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters."
How do you worship the creator? the bible answers.
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work,  but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates."
Ex. 20:8-10

Eric, great article. Praise God that Mormons are leaving the Church. [ how we pray that they
won't give up on seeking to know who Jesus really is . Following false prophets can tend to sour
one's attitude towards trusting others ] . What about all the good fruits that Mormons do ?
That has never been the issue ! Faithful people in other churches are just as moral as LDS .
The whole question is the CLAIMS . The claims of Mormonism. Only one man on the earth , a
Mormon, God reveals His decisive directions thru for all others ?Only one Church on earth that
God is pleased with , the Mormon church, all others constitute false religion and possibly the
church of the Devil ? The promise that the Mormon prophet will never teach incorrect doctrine ,
nor lead the Church into believing such ? All these claims (and more) are the whole issue. The
Mormon people are a decent people they’re striving to serve God, but they’ve detoured by
their leaders into embracing false teachings on the vital issues that can affect their eternal
welfare. May they step back and take up a concerted effort to read what Jesus directed His
apostles to preach for the salvation( eternal life ) of all men and women , in the N.T. , these
timeless truths have not been replaced they still direct people to the Savior who still saves

A friend's comment on the 4TH commandment

For the record, I am not an SDA adherent.  I have never attended their church and do not subscribe to their teachings that are outside of Scripture.  I based my "sabbath keeping" on reading the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation.  

It was 1 John 5:2-3 that really opened my eyes up. By this we know that we love the children of God (we are to love one another), when we love God and obey His commandments.  For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome."

Even Paul says to keep the commandments in 1 Cor 7:19.  The call for the endurance of the saints in Revelation 14:12 - those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.  

Jesus says in 15:10 - If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in His love.  Jesus said He and the Father are One, if you have seen Jesus you've seen the Father.  The Word is God, and was made flesh and dwelt among us.

Once my eyes were opened, I saw it all over the NT. Jesus kept the Sabbath, Paul kept the Sabbath, the NT saints kept it too.  I am familiar with the proof texts in Colossians and Romans 14 that seem to make the 4th commandment not important. But consider Deuteronomy 13:5.  Basically, if a prophet comes and makes you leave the way in which the LORD your God commanded you to walk, purge the evil person from your midst.  This was "the test" for false prophets and teachers back in the day of Jesus and Paul.  Remember the times Jesus was tested by the Pharisees?  They asked him questions about the Torah (law), trying to trap Him so they could stone Him as a false teacher or prophet.  He came to fulfill the law - teach it fully and properly. That's what the word means.  To destroy a word is to teach it improperly, to destroy it's intended purpose.

I hope this is a blessing to someone.  God wants us to obey Him. Jesus died on the cross to wipe away the sins of His people, sins defined as breaking Torah.  How is that any different than our call to obey? If not, then whom are we to obey? 

De mormon a Cristiano parte 2 - El por que realizo éstos blogs

En mi anterior post hice una pequeña introducción acerca de quien soy, ahora me gustaría exponer el propósito de realizar éstos blogs.
En primer lugar espero que a través de éstos posts muchas almas puedan beneficiarse de los descubrimientos en cuanto a mi fe que he tenido hasta éste punto de mi vida y que seguro seguire teniendo.
Se que el espíritu de Cristo es un espíritu misionero, cuando conoces a Cristo en tu vida lo primero que te nace es querer compartir lo grandioso que es conocer a Dios y quieres que otros puedan también participar del gozo de nacer de nuevo.
De la misma manera que llegamos a ver la luz y descubrir que vivimos en tinieblas pensamos (tal vez ingenuamente) que tódos estan dispuestos y podrán llegar a conocer lo que el Señor nos va mostrando.
Con ése espíritu, me he acercado a debatir con muchas personas de manera personal y a traves de internet acerca de lo que Dios nos muestra en su palabra de lo que realmente quiere de nosotros. Mi experiencia al intercambiar opiniones ha sido de gran ayuda y gran bendicion. He recibido preguntas que me han hecho cuestionarme mis creencias, los propósitos de Dios, su caracter y a medida que he ido leyendo la biblia he encontrado las respuestas que pienso que todos deberiamos evaluar y considerar.
¿Estoy equivocado por buscar la verdad? ¿Estoy equivocado por analizar no solo mi fe sino la de los demás?
Una vez un pastor dijo que no deberiamos pensar que estamos "equivocados" sino que simplemente todos estamos en un proceso de "aprendizaje", cuando estabamos en primaria y aprendimos a sumar, restar, multiplicar, leer y escribir, pensamos que ya aprendimos todo lo que necesitamos aprender, pero entonces subimos a otro nivel donde tuvimos que ampliar nuestros horizontes y seguir aprendiendo, y cuando terminemos seguimos a otros niveles que nos ayudaron a crecer hasta alcanzar nuestra formación profesional y personal.
De la misma manera, nuestro lado espiritual necesita crecer y seguir aprendiendo, mientras más sabemos más preguntas surgen y mas nos damos cuenta que nos falta mucho por aprender.
